Building Connections: Regional SAS Leaders Meet

On Wednesday 12 March, Kairos Community College proudly welcomed Special Assistance School (SAS) leaders from across our region to our Learning Hub and Caloundra campus. It was a day of meaningful connection, shared insights, and a collective focus on the wellbeing and success of our young people.

While each SAS school has its own unique approach, this gathering was a powerful reminder that we are united by a common purpose—to provide personalised support for disengaged and disenfranchised students, and to empower our staff to do the same.

The event brought together a passionate group of educators and leaders, all committed to improving outcomes in alternative education. Our Executive Principal, Tony Andrews, participated in the discussions, highlighting the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and positive change in our sector.

By sharing ideas, resources, and experiences, we can strengthen the support we offer our students and foster a thriving community of practice among SAS schools.

L-R: Michael Crosby (My Independent School), Correy Chiappetta (YMCA North Lakes), Jane Robinson (Horizons College of Learning and Enrichment), Kristin Grant (Horizons College of Learning and Enrichment), Tony Andrews (Kairos Community College), Dominic Heidke (YMCA Moreton Bay).

We are grateful for the opportunity to host such an inspiring group and look forward to continuing these valuable conversations in the future. At Kairos Community College, we believe that together, we can create stronger, more supportive environments for all young people.
