- Listening to and empowering young people, ensuring they understand their rights and have safe, accessible ways to speak up.
- Partnering with families and communities, recognising that child safety is a shared responsibility.
- Respecting diversity and promoting inclusion, ensuring all children, especially those with additional vulnerabilities, feel safe and supported.
- Creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, honouring identity, kinship, community, and connection to culture.
- Maintaining safe physical and online environments, supported by strong risk management and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring staff are trained, supported, and accountable for upholding child safe practices.
- Responding to concerns promptly, transparently, and in line with our legal obligations, including mandatory reporting and the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024.
- Reviewing and strengthening our safeguarding practices regularly, ensuring we remain aligned with evolving standards and community expectations.
Our Commitment to the Universal Principle of Cultural Safety
Kairos Community College recognises that cultural safety is essential to child safety. We commit to ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families feel:

- Safe to express identity and culture
- Valued for their knowledge, strengths, and perspectives
- Included in decision‑making
- Respected in all interactions
Our Promise to the Community
Every member of the Kairos community; staff, students, families, volunteers, and partners, plays a vital role in creating a safe environment. We expect all adults associated with the College to uphold the highest standards of behaviour, integrity, and professionalism.
Child safety is not just a legal requirement.
It is a core expression of who we are and what we stand for.
