How You Can Help Us Make A Difference

Before Kairos, I couldn’t stay at a single high school for more than a year because of different circumstances, whatever they may be. By the time I was at the end of year 9, I think I had completely given up on the education system. I had a teacher who told me about Kairos. My mum had to force me to apply and not just put my head into the sand, I did have dreams of the future and what I wanted to be, but it felt unattainable.

I started at Kairos in year 10, very hesitant towards everyone. Especially the teachers, who through their amazing patience, have made an imprint onto me as a person. They helped me through every time I wanted to give up because things got hard, supporting me the best they could. I went from basically despising school to enjoying it. These educators taught me how to be able to motivate myself to complete work, to go further in my education, apply myself because I wanted to, and to try and reach my goals.

My graduation was a sad and monumental moment for me, I was leaving my favourite school, but all I feel is thankfulness. I’m thankful to my educators, who shared their stories with me, and helped me learn to grow into a better person.

I’m thankful for the wonderful friends I have made at this school, who stand by me and support me with laughter and jokes, I will really miss seeing you every day. I’m thankful to my Youth Workers, who have helped me work through my own issues, and grow from a stubborn child into a healthy young adult.
