Empowering the Class of 2026

It has been an inspiring start to the year for our Year 12 cohorts at Kairos Community College. Students from our Caloundra and Deception Bay campuses recently stepped away from their regular routines to participate in Senior Leadership Camps, focusing on connection, reflection, and their roles as future leaders.

The Caloundra campus travelled to Bribie Island for a retreat centered on the theme “Lead Where You Stand.” Students engaged in workshops exploring how to positively influence others in everyday situations.

A particularly moving highlight included students writing letters to their future selves, which will be opened on their graduation night. Between leadership sessions, the group strengthened their sense of community through, collaborative games and evening activities, dinner at the local surf club, and a very refreshing group swim at the beach.

A Symbol of Identity and Culture

A significant milestone for both campuses was the presentation of the 2026 Senior uniforms. These garments are more than just a rite of passage; they represent the unique identity of this year’s graduating class.

Caloundra students were presented with their Senior Jerseys, featuring a custom design by Year 12 student, Till; whilst the Deception Bay Year 12 cohort received their Senior jackets, which include original artwork by proud Indigenous student, Char’lea W. Her contribution brings a profound sense of culture and connection to the 2026 uniform.

The impact of these experiences is best described by the students themselves:

“Leadership camp taught me the value of expressing gratitude to people, big or small. We are all learning and growing, and leadership camp taught me how to grow and team with others.” – Hayden

“I had an amazing time at camp; it helped me feel closer to my peers and realise my abilities to lead, even if it isn’t perfect.” – Spencer

We are incredibly proud of the spirit and maturity shown by our Year 12s. They have returned to their respective campuses enthusiastic about their roles as leaders within the Kairos Community College tribe for 2026.
