Tribal Leadership Program Launches at Deception Bay Campus

We are proud to announce the launch of a first-of-its-kind initiative at our Deception Bay campus for 2026: the Tribal Leadership Program. This program is designed to help students build real-world leadership skills while contributing meaningfully to their school community. Tribal Leaders embody our values, amplify student voice, and play an active role in supporting their peers.

Our three elected Tribal Leaders will take part in a dedicated mentoring program focused on leadership development, communication, collaboration, and event management. They will also have the opportunity to attend the Brisbane Youth Leadership Conference.

On Wednesday 18 February, seven nominees delivered their leadership speeches to peers, educators, and invited guests. Although nerves were high, each young person spoke with confidence, courage, and authenticity. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and grateful to the families who joined us to support their nominees.

We were honoured to welcome Emma Comer MP, Federal Member for Petrie, who spoke about the power of education and the importance of strong, supportive communities. We also thank Chris Knight from SI Moreton North Inc (SIMNI), a Kairos Elder and long-time supporter of the College, for joining us on this special occasion.

As voting opens, we celebrate not only the nominees but the spirit of leadership they represent. The successful Tribal Leaders will be officially announced at our Leadership Camp, held from 26–27 February.

This program marks an exciting step forward for our Deception Bay community, one that empowers our students to lead with purpose, bravery, and integrity. We can’t wait to see the positive impact our future Tribal Leaders will make.
