Celebrating Women Who Inspire: IWD with SIMNI

Kairos Community College was proud to join Soroptimist International Moreton North Inc (SIMNI) to celebrate International Women’s Day – a global event that honours the achievements and contributions of women in our communities and beyond.

This inspiring celebration brought together women from all walks of life to reflect on the power of collective support and to recognise those who lead with compassion, strength, and vision. We were deeply moved by the well-deserved recognition of Adele Rice AM and Dr Jane Chimungeni-Brassington, named SIMNI’s 2025 International Women of the Year. Their work continues to uplift and empower those around them, and their stories remind us of the profound impact one individual can have.

Representing Kairos Community College at the event were our Head of Campus, Kelly Chambers, Senior Youth Worker, Emma Burridge, Educator, Gabby Cook, and Business Manager, Danielle Twomey. They were joined by current students Maddison F and Abigail L, as well as Kairos graduate Tamika B – three remarkable young women who embody the spirit of growth and empowerment.

This event was not only a celebration of extraordinary women but also a valuable opportunity for our students to witness first-hand the importance of community leadership and the power of women supporting women.

We extend our sincere thanks to Chris Knight, a cherished friend of Kairos, for generously sponsoring three tickets that enabled Maddison and Abigail to attend. Your support made a lasting impact and helped to inspire the next generation of female leaders.

Our relationship with SIMNI continues to grow, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing dedication to uplifting women and girls in our region.

Together, we can build a future where every young woman is empowered to realise her potential.
