Kairos Community College Caloundra welcomed a very special guest to our campus on Friday 22 May 2026. Senator for Queensland, Corinne Mulholland, visited to connect with our community and check on the exciting progress of our brand-new campus facilities.
During her visit, Senator Mulholland took the time to learn more about the unique Kairos story and the real impact that our Ripple Model is having across local communities. Designed to support young people who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the mainstream education system, our distinctive approach to inclusive education and community wellbeing deeply resonated with the Senator, who has a genuine admiration for the work our team does.
A highlight of the visit was a guided tour of our major capital works project, which is nearing completion and set to open very soon. This infrastructure development has been made possible through a significant $1,440,000 grant from the Australian Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund. Additionally, the foundational master plan for this project was undertaken through the Block Grant Authority (BGA) Master Plan Grant Funding, which is also funded through the Australian Federal Government.
This generous federal funding directly supports the construction of:
- New general learning areas
- A collaborative learning commons
- Modern administration facilities
- Upgraded student and staff amenities

Our staff and students thoroughly enjoyed showing Senator Mulholland around the active construction site, sharing what they love about Kairos, and demonstrating exactly how this substantial investment will transform our day-to-day teaching and learning environment.
We are incredibly grateful to the Australian Government for this funding assistance, which allows us to continue expanding our capabilities and supporting our students in high-quality, purpose-built environments.
The tour was an excellent opportunity for our team, and importantly our students, to discuss with Senator Mulholland how the government can continue to better support special assistance schools and the young people within them. We look forward to welcoming Senator Mulholland back to our Caloundra campus very soon for the official opening function, where we will formally celebrate the completion of this wonderful new building.
