Our Year 10 students recently swapped the classroom for the coastline, putting their Certificate II in Active Volunteering skills into action at Shelley Beach.
Working alongside Community Conservation Officer Sandie Johnston, students spent the morning removing painted spurge, a noxious weed that threatens native coastal vegetation. It was hands-on, hard work, and our students tackled it with enthusiasm and great teamwork, making a real difference to the health of one of our favourite local spots.
Days like this show our students how their skills and time can make a genuine impact in their community, building confidence and connection along the way.
A huge thank you to Sandie for sharing her knowledge and supporting our students, and congratulations to our Year 10 volunteers on an outstanding effort!
