On Friday 29 May 2026, our Kairos Deception Bay community proudly joined the annual Moreton Bay Says No 2 Violence Walk. Students and staff stood shoulder-to-shoulder with local residents, business owners, and community leaders to promote respect, kindness, and a future entirely free from domestic and family violence.
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with energy and unity. This peaceful, annual walk takes place on the last Friday in May each year, providing a vital opportunity for the region to raise its voice collectively against abuse.

Participating in this event is about more than just a single day of action. It is about addressing serious realities within our broader community and advocating for real cultural change. According to data shared by the MBSN2V committee:
- On average, one woman dies every week in Australia due to domestic and family violence.
- One in six women and one in 16 men have experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former partner.
- Domestic and family violence has an impact on all people, which means everyone needs to take a stand.
Events like these help build strong, compassionate young people who understand the power of standing up for what is right. We are incredibly proud of our students for representing Kairos Community College with such high levels of enthusiasm, maturity, and respect.

The campaign highlights five core ways the community can create long-term safety and accountability:
- Make it clear: Ensure that violence is never treated as acceptable and that abusive behaviours are never condoned.
- Promote: Actively encourage healthy, equal, and respectful relationships.
- Protect: Support leaders across business, community, and education sectors to protect those experiencing abuse.
- Advocate: Challenge the attitudes that lead to violence and support workers in all environments.
- Accountability: Hold people who use violence accountable for their personal choices and actions.
If someone confides in you about experiencing domestic or family violence, the organisers remind us of three simple, life-changing steps: always believe their story, listen without judgement, and support them to access specialised services.
A huge thank you goes out to the MBSN2V organisers, Encircle Community Services, and everyone involved in making this meaningful event possible. Together, we are helping to shape a safer, more supportive Moreton Bay.
