Sizzling for Senior Jerseys

There’s something special about a school community that turns up on a weekend, not because it has to, but because it wants to.

On Saturday 15 August, our Deception Bay campus ran a Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Rothwell, and from setup to pack-down, the day was powered by people giving up their own time for each other.

Our Deception Bay staff led the way, organising the day and working the full shift alongside a dedicated group of student and parent volunteers. Students took turns on the tongs, handled orders and greeted customers with confidence, while parents pitched in wherever they were needed.

Why it matters

Every dollar raised goes towards subsidising Year 12 senior jerseys for the Class of 2027.

For many of our young people, a senior jersey is more than clothing. It’s a symbol of belonging, persistence, and reaching a milestone that once may have felt out of reach. We believe every student who makes it to Year 12 deserves to wear that achievement with pride, and cost should never stand in the way.

When our staff, students and families give their time, they’re making sure opportunities like this are open to every student. Seeing current students volunteer for something that will benefit their peers was a highlight of the day, and a real reflection of the values that grow at Kairos.

Thank you

To everyone who volunteered, donated or stopped by for a snag: thank you. Your generosity made the day a success, and we can’t wait to see the Class of 2027 pull on their jerseys knowing a whole community helped get them there!
